Problem Note 45501: Information maps with incorrectly truncated data item names cannot be opened in SAS® Enterprise Guide® and the SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office

Because SAS variable names have a maximum size of 32 bytes, data items names that are greater than 32 bytes are uniquely truncated to meet this requirement when the information map is opened in SAS Enterprise Guide or the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office.
However, data item names that use a double-byte character set might be incorrectly truncated. When this situation occurs, the truncated data item and all subsequent data items do not display in the Open Information Map dialog box, and the information map cannot be opened.
